Community Supported Agriculture
Community Supported CSA Box Share Program
Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA for short, is the heart of our farm. Besides eating good food and being outdoors all the time, community is one of the main reasons we started farming in the first place. To put it simply, a CSA is a weekly box share program that is mutually beneficial for the farmer and the customer. With the customer (hopefully you!) paying up front at the beginning of the season, the farmer (that's us!) has income flow to start the season on a good footing. Throughout the season, you'll get to reap the rewards, and sometimes the pitfalls, of what we're growing. It's a perfect way to support the revitalization of small and local agriculture, while enjoying the freshest seasonal food possible.
We run a 16-week CSA Box Share which usually starts in early July and ends sometime in October. You'll have the choice between a Full Share (designed to feed 2-4 people) or a Half Share (1-2 people). We offer pick-up on Tuesdays (from 3-6PM) at our farm in Denmark and Wednesdays at Apple Acres in Hiram (3-5PM).
At Apple Acres, CSA box share members will get a pre-boxed CSA to pick up each week. Folks who pick up on-farm will select CSA items from a market-style display - Patch Farmers will provide the list (think: “Select one kale bunch, two pounds potatoes, one bunch basil…”) and you’ll get to chose if you want the smaller potatoes, or the bigger ones. Some weeks you’ll be able to “trade” items less desired in your kitchen, and each week will be able to take advantage of the "trade out” box - taking/leaving items for other members to enjoy.
In 2018 we piloted a new Market Share and it went so well - thank you to all who requested the
program and those of you who signed up to make it a success!
How it works
Purchase one (or more) farm share(s) and shop cash-free at:
Bridgton Farmers’ Market: Saturdays, May 4th - Oct 26th
Patch Farm Farm Stand: Daily, May 1st - November 1st
Use your farm share debit to buy Patch Farm veggies, eggs, pork, chicken, seedlings or herbs at the
farmers’ market or our farm stand. We will keep track of your balance - once your farm share debit runs out, you’ll be able to use cash to keep shopping. Farm Share sign-up ends June 1st, so get your share now!
The larger your market share the bigger your farm discount.
Farm shares expire at the close of outdoor markets and at the close of the farm stand (see dates listed).
Any remaining balance will not carry over to winter markets.
